The Winter Essentials Edit
This winter, we’re dressing for survival and style. When it comes to cold temperatures, less is more. In the sense where, it’s not about wearing the most layers or owning the most amount of clothing, but having high quality items that serve their purpose. Quality over quantity. So in the spirit of all of that, here’s a curated wish list of the pieces that would make this season feel that bit more pleasant. Have a browse, and tell me what you’re loving this season or what else deserves a spot on the list.
1) Heavy Soles, Heavy Rotation
Chunky, durable and endlessly versatile, the Dr. Martens Jadon Arc Platform Boots are built for winter. The heavy sole makes light work of rain and snow, while the brown leather adds warmth and depth to any outfit — think denim, corduroy, or layered neutrals. I already swear by my black pair, but this colourway feels especially seasonal. A true all-year boot that earns its place in the wardrobe.
Available from Dr. Martens website.
2) Once You Try It…
For years, I was firmly anti–heated blanket. I think a lot of us are — convinced we’ll somehow be slow-roasted like a Christmas turkey overnight. Not the case. Somewhere along the line (possibly Twitter), I was influenced, and it genuinely changed my winters for the better. Heated blankets are surprisingly cheap to run, warm up almost instantly and come with timers ranging up to 9 hours, so you can fall asleep cocooned in heat without any stress. When I finally bought one, it became essential. Tragically, mine became a casualty of frequent washing (it is a blanket, after all) — which is exactly why it’s back on my wish list. No notes, really. Just warmth, comfort and the kind of winter luxury you don’t realise you need until you’ve tried it.
3) An Everyday Essential
Whether you’re popping to the shops round the corner, heading to the gym or winding down at home, a good hoodie is non-negotiable. The adidas Originals Trefoil Hoodie in grey is a reliable go-to — clean, comfortable and effortlessly oversized. Seen on Miles Lewis-Skelly in JD’s Where Are You Going Christmas campaign, it’s the kind of layer that works across off-duty days, travel and everything in between, proving that the simplest pieces often work the hardest in winter.
Available via JD.
4) The Uniform of Today
Originally designed for surfers warming up post-dip, UGG has long secured its place as a cold-weather essential. The Tasman style sits perfectly between comfort and practicality — essentially a slipper made acceptable for the outside world. Dreamy. It’s become the uniform of today, favoured for its ease, warmth and effortless wearability. Whether you’re running errands or keeping things low-key, the Tasman delivers every time. Are you part of the Tasman crew?

5) Outerwear Is the Outfit
It may be cold, but that doesn’t mean colour is off the table. This yellow shrug from Jaded London is the kind of statement piece that does the work for you — part top, part scarf, and very much the outerwear is the outfit. Perfect for nights out or events when you still want to keep warm (without sacrificing the look). Bold, playful and unapologetic. It also comes in black, if you’re feeling more understated.
Available via Jaded London.
Winter dressing doesn’t have to be complicated. A few well-chosen pieces — the kind you reach for on repeat — can make all the difference when temperatures drop. From practical layers to statement moments and comfort-first essentials, this list is less about trends and more about what actually works. Consider it a reminder that staying warm and dressing well don’t have to be mutually exclusive.
