From Tumblr Era to Now: The Air Jordan 4 Black Cat is Back

JD is bringing back a real favourite: the Air Jordan 4 ‘Black Cat’. A silhouette that feels ingrained into sneaker culture, it instantly pulls me back to the Tumblr era — blacked-out fits, grainy flash photography, and Jordans that didn’t need loud colour to make noise. First released in 2006, the ‘Black Cat’ returns in full stealth mode: deep black nubuck, graphite detailing, hard-shell moulds and that unmistakable Jordan 4 netting. Every panel blends into the next, giving the shoe its signature intensity — clean and timeless.

It’s that all-black execution that’s always made the Black Cat hit differently. No contrast, no distractions — just shape, texture and attitude. The Nike Air cushioning keeps the feel familiar underfoot, while the rubber outsole holds its own whether you’re moving through the city or on court.

Fronting the drop is LeoStayTrill — a rising UK artist steadily carving out his own lane. With his Home Alone EP, standout sets at Reading & Leeds and Our Homecoming, plus two MOBO nominations, Leo represents a new generation connecting with pieces that already carry history.

The Air Jordan 4 ‘Black Cat’ drops in limited numbers at JD from Friday 28 November.
